Eden Project

I have visited the Eden Project at least 14 times since April last year, but my membership has just ended, so I am considering becoming a friend. Why?

The Eden Project is a huge muddy hole in the ground turned into something very attractive. We all know about the Biomes – the Mediterranean and the Tropical but for me the outside probably remains the most attractive area. Hedges create features that draw your eye upwards. Bulbs in there hundreds. Grasses waving majestically. It really is beautiful. I love the wander down from the visitor’s entrance towards the biomes. There are so many routes, each one built to take you on a journey. A journey crafted from a muddy hole.

One man’s vision, reflected through many eyes, created an ‘Eden’ from a muddy hole.

Pride and Love

As a Christian I wonder where the word pride comes into my life, but when I think of Abi my heart swells with pride as I see this bundle of joy make 20 months old. She walks and talks and makes sentences. She has started to say things like love you Daddy/Mummy. She says, “Amen” at the end of prayers and is a superb mimic. She says No to everything – which is great because one of my favourite questions is, “Do you want £1000?” Yes I am a proud Father, but isn’t it wonderful that God is an even greater Father and He also takes pride in what He has created. So I say, “Thank you God”.

Love is the easy bit but I think on a blog for Abi, I am going to start by saying, day by day my love for Anna grows as I start to see what a wonderful person she is. She is a natural mother, anticipating Abi’s needs and just showing a huge amount of love, care, generosity, discipline, patience and respect. She is a wonderful wife and she is just amazing. I should tell her more but instead, I find myself being silly and picking on little bits because they don’t quite fit into the model. I am sorry and with God’s help, I will change. Now comes the Abi part. Abi watches all these things and being a superb mimic, I wonder what she is picking up? I am sure she is seeing the love Anna and I share for each other and responding to it but I am also sure she is seeing me behave like an idiot! Please pray for me.

Finally, I offer my love to God for giving me a family. Anna my wonderful wife I love you, Abi my amazing daughter I love you. Father God, I love you.

Poo

Well Dad here this time. We have recently started feeding Abi solids and this has meant an interesting turn of events down under.

To explain – feed her milk, milky poos, feed her solids, solid poo and the splash this morning as the poo was emptied into the toilet must have been heard down under.

1. God’s Love
Because it has restored my soul and spirit without comment and without the need for qualification. It is freely given – my choice and what a choice. I have found that daily God is waiting for me to chat, to chill, to be my friend, to be my Father. He excites my passion for nature and simplicity and gives me joy unknowing.
And what do I do for Him – nothing more than say here I am!

2. Anna my wife
Wow – my wife is amazing. A huge amount of qualities. She loves God, she loves me, she is so intelligent (she’s a doctor – phd), so beautiful, so full of fun, not lazy, dedicated, devoted and soon to be mother of our child. She is chilled, loyal, passionate, loves nature, similar in life’s values and life’s goals. And she got me – not much other than I love her and would die for her.

3. Abigail my daughter
It is incredible to think that I could love her more. She is so fantastic. I enjoy sitting and watching her, chatting to her (yes only four months old but she chats back), tickling her and I can’t wait for more.

4. My dog Muffin and my cat Coco
Muffin is a Cocker Spaniel and is totally mad and Coco is a black and white cat and is totally mad!

5. My Family
Tanya, Toby, Jane and Mum and Dad. They have all been so good to me. Faults in the loads but they don’t matter. I love them all along with all their children, Rachel and Hannah, Louis and Samuel, Simon, Adam and Holly.

6. My mate Graham
And his family – Pam, Tim, Sam, Elisha and Chloe. Amazing friends and a huge friendship. I enjoy every time I spend with them. It is always fun, thought provoking and challenging!

7. The Bible
This really is my Bible. The most interesting thought provoking read ever. But more importantly it tells me all about God, who I love very much and who I want to know more.

8. Pizza
Thanks to the Italians for this one!

9. Apple Macs
What superb computers they make. Talk to a Windows user and they will tell you all that is wrong with there computers. Talk to a Mac user and they will tell you why there computer is so beautiful, well designed, fun to use, in short they will gush about them!

10. Morris Minors
Beautiful cars made in a brilliant way. I mourn the loss of my latest one.

Sleepless Nights

Ok a couple more photos for you to appreciate. I thought the first one rather appropriate. A lovely picture of Anna and Abi – just that Abi is still in the womb!

The second one is for all the dads about to go through what I am about to go through. If you need to talk I’ll be there for you. I mean it. I was about to spend almost an hour not knowing what was happening. I was scared that Anna was going to die. I was scared Abi was going to die and I was helpless. I couldn’t help them. I shed quite a few tears and I thank God that He saw them through. But for me it was not the physical pain that leaves a scar – it is the mental pain. I am so glad I have a lovely baby girl and in the end it is worth it. But it is still painful. All I can say is thanks Adam and Eve – none of this was necessary if you had just listened – but then I guess I wasn’t listening either!
