Abi’s been chosing her own clothes for a while now. Citing a preference for dresses or trousers and skirts. This week she has taken it up a notch. She is chosing her clothes out of her draws and then laying them on the floor in the order she wants them put on. She still wants odd socks and likes to fluctuate between pink days, punk days and princess days.

Those that have had children will know about sleepless nights and funny smelling nappies. But then they’ll also know about the unbelievable feeling you get when you hold your child for the first time and smell its skin and think this is about as good as life can get!

As a father, I know I will never tire of staying awake all night if my child needs me or changing countless nappies or if she gets into trouble at some point in life I will join her in whatever smell she kicks up. She’s my daughter.

Ice Skating

Eden have had some special infants on ice mornings. After initial trepidation and wearing the wrong very slippery shoes Abi and her friend millie loved it.

I asked abi to stop doing something the other day, she kept going. So I asked her again. After the third time I moved her away so she could not do it any more. She retorted with “you’re such a monkey, mummy”.

The Attitude

It continues to increase, she still wears nappies, probably because she knows mum would love her out of them. When we clean her up on a nappy change she has taken to saying. “it’s my bum, don’t touch me”. If she knows she’s about to be told off she put her fingers to her lips and says “no” to sush us. She also tells older children to be quiet in church, maybe she has that teachers gene after all.

Caricature

I had no idea that Abi was going to caricature Rich and I in such amusing ways. She copies so much of what we do and say it’s scary. I don’t need to tell her off very often as she does it herself, she also praises herself. If she says “please” she then follows it with “good girl”. Tonight she really wanted a video played and told me “baby video, thank you kind mummy” followed by when I did it. (this was around spring summer 2007) just found it in drafts

Pink Bip bops

Abi’s favorite thing is talking, I wonder who she gets that from? At the moment every colour she sees she calls pink, she obviously lives in a very pink world. Her second favorite thing is shoes,especially bip bops (flip flops) she constantly takes them off the shoe rack in the hall and re-arranges them. trying several pairs on leaving them everywhere. Her previous leanings towards neatness and clearing up seam to have dissapeared.

Wow we’re definitely cruising up to those opinionated paddy filled toddler years. Abi now tells herself off before she does something naughty. Its great you get warning of what’s about to happen. She has not thrown a full blown paddy yet but has a very stroppy shoulder wiggle. She also has started to give the most adorable kisses, to pretty much any one before she goes to bed or when she says good bye.

Abi is comming on in leaps and bounds with her talking but still uses baby signing to emphasise some points. She has a new book with a fire engine, an ambulance and I have just discovered the please car as she did the baby signing as she said the word.

Shoes

Abi is finally big enough to have aproper pair of measured shoes. She has just about reached a size 2. Her shoes are so lovely she calls them wow. However she also loves a pair of soft swede boots she has been given. In fact she is turning into quite a dressing up girl.Possibly a future fashion victim. She has definate opinions about her clothes a frequently choses things she wants to wear, like a fairy tutu her auntie made her.
